Bev our PADI Master Instructor, Freedive Instructor, TDI Instructor and Service tech Guru gives us tips, tricks and heads up on all things diving and scuba

It's that time of the year when we are having a steady flow of reps passing through the shop showing us their forthcoming products for the new dive season soon to be on us. We have been fortunate to get a sneak peak at some rather excellent products including the new Shearwater Teric dive computer, a watch that claims to transform you!

The Teric is Shearwaters latest product that combines all the great features of its ever-popular technical dive computer range with a few new bells and whistles in a more traditional watch format. The first thing I noticed was its weight, this is a very solid and very capable dive computer stacked with features and functions and all in a lush almost gunmetal black finish. I had a quick look through all its menus/functions and it is easy to navigate with only two buttons (similar to the Perdex). It has a high resolution, full color, fully configurable and with air integration capabilities. One excellent new feature that was missing from Shearwaters other computers is it now has a Freedive mode, therefore, would make an excellent choice for both freedivers and spearo’s (as well as recreational and technical divers)

Sadly I had to hand it back to the Rep who informed us that Shearwater is beginning to step up production as demand is outweighing supply therefore not are they highly desirable but difficult to obtain. We have however put our orders in and should have the Teric in stock soon although they will be in limited supplies so if you are looking to upgrade or purchase your first dive computer you best reserve one today. The Teric is a solid, rugged computer that simply oozes sophistication and style and perhaps could be the pinnacle of dive computers out there - time will tell, but be warned this does come at a price!

Thanks for being a Dive Wellington customer and for helping make us Wellington's biggest and best dive store.
