Hi Divers

This weekend we will be running our annual spear fishing competition and charity fish auction fundraiser. Our chosen charity this year is “Key to Life Suicide Prevention." These guys work with youth going into schools and talking about depression, anxiety, bullying and that suicide isn't an option. Formed by Mike King, he makes an instant connection with youth and helps them to open up and talk. Our goal is to raise $5000.

The fish auction starts at 5pm, and the more people that come to the auction; the more we raise for charity. Crayfish, paua, kina and fish all at cheap prices. If postponed, the back up day is Saturday April 8th and people can phone the shop Saturday morning to check if it is going ahead.

If you would like to help us support this cause, there are several things you can do.

You can firstly share the event with everyone on your facebook page or in your email contact list.

You can volunteer to help out on the day for a couple of hours, cooking the bbq, bagging fish or helping with the auction.

You can come to the auction with your friends and bid on some cheap fish.

You can sponsor a prize catergory for the spearfishing competition by donating a prize.

You can enter the spearfishing competition.

The southerly swell has finally buggered off and we have 15 – 20 kt Northerlies forecasted on the South Coast. Should be a great weekend to get in the water!

The briefing is this Friday 6.30pm at the shop. You need to come along to hear the rules and sign waivers. If you can't make this, you need to come into the shop Saturday mornign to fill in waivers before you start spearing. There will also be a spot prize drawn at the briefing. $30 entry fee and the first 40 paid entries receive a competition t shirt. First prize for the top team is $1000 cash, a winners hoody each and your names on the trophy. Loads of other spot prizes too. Open to boat and shore divers.

Sunday April 2nd – Meeting at 2pm

Tuesday after work dives – Meeting at 5:45pm

We are closed Friday 14th and Sunday 16th. Saturday 15th and Monday 17th we will be open 8am to 5.30pm.

Remember daylight savings ends this weekend, so more night dives yay.

We have someone looking for a couple of advanced divers to join them on a White Island trip this Easter. If you are keen contact Matt on matt@steamed-design.com

Our fulltime Diploma courses are going well. One group has just finished their Advanced course and the other is well into their instructors course and head away over the Easter break to dive the wrecks of the Canterbury and the Rainbow Warrior, before coming back to sit their instructors exam. Our next intake is in August.

We have been very busy with courses. Let us know if there is any course you are interested in or would like some information about.

Congratulations to Dawn Badco on completing her Open Water Course. Also, Congrats to Catherine, Elliot, Gareth, and Apukuki on completing their Rescue Course.

Thanks for being part of Dive Wellington, we appreciate your business. If you are looking at buying gear on line, we can usually match most on line pricing. Support your local store.

We hope to see you out in the water soon, from the team at Dive Wellington Dave, Paula, Kelly, Josh, Alex, and Mandy
