Dive News: Fri 12 May 2017

Hey Divers

Sorry for the late newsletter this week, we have been swamped with loads going on.

The weather still hasn't been ideal but we have managed a few good days of diving on the South Coast. This weekend doesn't look much better with southerlies all weekend.

Hi Divers

Our clean up at Oriental bay was a great sucess last Saturday. Thanks to everyone who helped out on shore and underwater, check out the video on our facebook page.

Congratulations to Michael, Martin, Nelson, Donnacha and Ruth on completing their Dive against Debri specialty course as part of the clean up dive.

Also congratulations to Luke and Sylvan on completing their advanced open water course, and to Catherine Jones on completing her rescue course and first aid course.

Hi Divers

It looks like we are going to get a fine weekend with the sun out all weekend, a nice change from last week. The swell from todays southelry will hang around the South Coast but West Coast and the harbour should be good for diving.

The terrible weather this season has meant we are playing catch up with finishing courses, especially for advanced open water. Hopefully May brings more settled weather. Sorry guys, as soon as we get some settled days, we will get you out there.

Dive News: Thu 13 Apr 2017

Hi Divers

We have a group of divers heading North to dive Northland this weekend, fingers crossed with the weather, hopefully it has blown over by Saturday.

The outlook isn't much better here with gusty winds and rain. Our boat charters are off for the weekend but we will still be having dive club dives, meeting at the shop at 9.30am Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Dive News: Thu 06 Apr 2017

Hi Divers

With all the rain we have had over the last few days, there will be no diving for a while. Hopefully it clears a bit by the weekend. We have still managed to keep busy, teaching 40 school students to dive in the pool this week..

Thank you to everyone who helped out last weekend with our annual spearfishing competition and charity fish auction. We had 50 entries in the competition, which makes it one of the largest comps in the Country.

Hi Divers

This weekend we will be running our annual spear fishing competition and charity fish auction fundraiser. Our chosen charity this year is “Key to Life Suicide Prevention." These guys work with youth going into schools and talking about depression, anxiety, bullying and that suicide isn't an option. Formed by Mike King, he makes an instant connection with youth and helps them to open up and talk. Our goal is to raise $5000.

Hi Divers,

We have not had great diving conditions this week, but we have had our students out at Scorching Bay practicing Search and Recovery in the sun J We have also had our instructor candidates perfecting their presentations in the classroom and practicing their skills in the pool. We have a southerly swell hanging around the coast for this weekend and a mixture of winds. Looks like it should be alright topside though, so we hope to see you all out diving !

Hi Divers,

We hope everyone has had a good week given the average weather we have been having J Looks like the sun is on its way back just in time for the weekend! We also have a mixture of Northerlies and Southerlies coming, so looks like we may get a dive in on the coast and in the harbour. Looking forward to seeing you all out diving this weekend!

DIVE CLUB DIVES...please book

Saturday and Sunday meeting at the shop at 2pm.

Dive News: Thu 09 Mar 2017

Hi Divers,

Unfortunately, we have seen the return of some weather about the coast, but the harbour has been treating us with some awesome diving! Last night, we had a night dive at Kau Bay with bobtail squid, seahorses, and even a massive ray!

Congratulations to all our new divers: James, Grace, and David.

Also big well done to our diploma students Tess and Chris who have just completed their Divemaster course. We have also got a few students who have begun their instructors course, so you may seem them around on weekends helping out J

Dive News: Wed 01 Mar 2017

Hi Divers,

We have been making the most of the nice weather over the last week! We have been diving on the South Coast every day and although the visibility hasn’t been the greatest, there has been a heap to see underwater! Lots of fish, lots of crays, lots of octopi, and we even had dolphins join us on the F69 last weekend.

Looks like we have a nice weekend ahead, but there is a 2m southerly swell building for Saturday. Dive club this weekend is looking like the harbour, but we will just have to see what happens!
